Cocktail Party for James' Place
As well as making fun swimmers we are also donating a proportion of our profits to James' Place, the UK’s first non-clinical centre for men in suicidal crisis, and plan to do lots more as we grow!
Our aim is to raise awareness of mental health problems amongst young people, but in particular young men. Nowadays, one in seven young men aged between 16 and 24 experience depression or anxiety every year. Shockingly suicide remains the single biggest killer of men aged between 20 and 49 and the Samaritans recently released figures showing death among under 25s increased by 23.7%, reaching 730 deaths in 2018.
This is why Crab & Little has chosen to support James’ Place an initiative formed by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley, who tragically lost their son James, to suicide, ten days after a minor operation. James went looking for someone to talk to but sadly didn’t find the urgent help he so desperately needed. As a result, James' Place was created to support and listen to men during their time of need and the aim is to open further centres across the country, focusing primarily at university cities and one in London this year.
We will be donating 10% of profits raised from Cocktail Party.
